Revolutionizing How We Build with AI: Wordware Raises $30M Seed Round
Contributor
Since our viral Product Hunt launch that broke their servers, Wordware has grown to hundreds of thousands of users, with innovative companies like Instacart, Runway, and aiSDR trusting us to power their AI development. We’ve built what many are calling the most intuitive and powerful platform for building AI.
But to fundamentally change how the world builds with AI, you need more than just a great product.
To accelerate our mission and seize the massive opportunity before us, we’ve raised $30 million in seed funding to build the definitive operating system for AI development. This investment, one of the largest seed rounds in Y Combinator’s history, is led by Spark Capital, with participation from Felicis, YC, and notable angels including Paul Graham, Vlad Magdalin (Webflow), Mathilde Collin (Front), and others.
Why we decided to raise
AI development isn’t just another market. It’s the foundation for how all future software will be built – a transformation that will touch every industry and organization. But the tools for building with AI have been stuck in an impossible position.
We’re at a watershed moment. While many believe this moment started with ChatGPT, the truth is that AI development has been crying out for a revolution for years. This is precisely why we founded Wordware.
Today’s solutions force an impossible choice: either use no-code tools that fall short when it’s time for production, or embed AI logic directly in codebases, making iteration painfully slow and keeping domain experts – who know exactly what good output looks like – removed from the development process.
What we’re building
AI development needs a ground-up reimagining. This vision drove us to spend a year rebuilding the development environment for AI agents, solving the fundamental question: “If prompting is the new programming, what should the tools look like?”
This funding will vastly accelerate our vision of an AI operating system, which is built on three pillars:
- A natural programming language: We’re introducing English as the new programming language for AI. No complex syntax to memorize – if you can express your ideas clearly, you can build sophisticated AI solutions.
- A unified development environment: Think of it as a super-powered Notion editor for AI development, where domain experts and engineers work together seamlessly, connecting different AI models and tools like speech recognition, image generation, or data analysis.
- Enterprise-grade deployment: Whether through our API for seamless integration into existing systems, or through our GitHub-style repository for sharing and customizing solutions, we’re eliminating the traditional “graduation problem” that plagues no-code tools.
We’re not here to make incremental improvements. We’re going to redefine how AI solutions are built and deployed, and we’ll be shipping groundbreaking features that make AI development accessible to everyone while maintaining the power and precision that engineers need.
A gift to our community
While investors are great, what we care about even more is you guys - our users. You’re the ones who made us break Product Hunt with 7,466 upvotes and you’re the reason why we grind through all-nighters. So here is a gift from us to you: A video of our CTO Robert, who shares a striking resemblance with Margot Robbie, lying naked in a bubble bath explaining the magic of Wordware.
Backed by the best
We are fortunate to be backed by visionary investors who believe in our dream to transform how the world builds with AI.
Spark Capital, known for backing iconic creators behind companies like Anthropic, Twitter, Discord, Cruise, Oculus, and Scale.ai, has led this round. Their track record of embracing risk and backing transformative products across all sectors makes them the perfect partner for our mission. We’re thrilled to work with Nabeel Hyatt and the Spark team, who bring deep expertise in developer tools and platform businesses.
We’re also joined by Felicis, Day One Ventures, and an incredible group of angels including Paul Graham, Siqi Chen (Runway), Jason Boehmig (Ironclad), Vlad Magdalin (Webflow), and Mathilde Collin (Front).
